Visit
Welcome
North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our county's residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Extension Agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to New Hanover County citizens.
The gardens are open every day of the week throughout the year including holidays. Please check our calendar for dates, times, and details on events that are ticketed or private and may cause the gardens to be xlosed to the public. The Admin Office, Plant Clinic and Gift Shop are closed on state holidays.

- Is the Arboretum free to visit, and if not what is the cost and where do I buy tickets?
-
The Arboretum is free to visit and a ticket is not normally required. Occasionally, the Arboretum may have a ticketed special event and ticket information can be found on the event page, or on the Arboretum homepage under Events.
- Can I take my wedding / engagement / family / prom photos at the Arboretum?
-
Yes, we’d love to help you celebrate your special occasion! During regular business hours, there is no fee to use the gardens for your session. A photography permit is not required unless for a commercial shoot. If you, or your photographer, wish to have access to the property after hours there is a fee and a request should be submitted via the online form.
- Is the Arboretum accessible to people with disabilities?
-
Yes! There are a number of parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities. Benches are located throughout the gardens for any of our guests who would like a place to sit and rest and the majority of the paths are paved or compact gravel and suitable for wheelchairs or walkers.
