Virtual Exercise & Recreation Programming

Current virtual exercise programs:

  • Strength Training with Gayla - a twice-a-week virtual exercise class that uses light hand weights and exercise bands. This class meets for one hour on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10 am on Zoom. Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link. Contact Megan for more information: email or (910) 612-5379.
  • Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less - this program is provided virtually by the North Carolina (NC) State University and the NC Division of Public Health. This is a 15 week program that has new sessions throughout the year. All participants must be over 60+ years of age. For more information, please contact Megan though email.

Current virtual recreation programming:

  • Virtual Book Club - 4th Tuesday of every month at 10:00am. Join Megan and others for a monthly book club on Zoom. Our theme is "books on books." Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link. Contact Megan for more information: mlanier@nhcgov.com or (910) 612-5379.
  • Blue Ribbon Writer's Group - 4th Monday of every month at 10:30am. A virtual, informal writing group for writers to share their own pieces aloud with one another. Members write across the spectrum of genres -- fiction, poetry, memoir and reminiscence, essay and commentary, even a budding novel or play. Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
