Collection Selections: Filming in Wilmington

Exhibit on view: May 18, 2021 through March 6, 2022

The film industry came to Wilmington in 1983 when a major motion picture, Firestarter, shot on location around the Cape Fear. That first movie helped put Wilmington and North Carolina on the film-making map. Cape Fear Museum's collection reflects the importance of the film business in the area and includes hundreds of film-related artifacts including props, costumes, crew clothing, photographs, scripts, and call-sheets. A selection of artifacts are now on view at the Museum.
