Reflections in Black and White Exhibition Opens

Revisit our 2015 exhibit, Reflections in Black and White. Explore everyday life for Black and white Wilmingtonians in the Jim Crow era through a selection of period photographs. Exhibit will be on view June 23, 2023 through December 2023.

Join an environmental educator on a guided walk around the Airlie Gardens grounds highlighting notable tree species.

Bird Walk

Enjoy a stroll around the grounds without the crowds while we see what’s flying! Look for resident and migrating birds and learn basic birding skills! No experience is necessary, all are welcome. Binoculars are available on a first come first serve basis. This event is co-hosted with our partner, Wild Bird and Garden!

Summer Concert Series

Airlie's Summer Concert series powered by REV Federal Credit Union features reSoul this week. ReSoul is a hot R&B band based in Wilmington, NC covering the best danceable soul tunes from the 70s through today! Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Sade, Liz Wright, and many others. Tickets go on sale to the general public on June 12 at 9:00 a.m.

Mystical Moths

National Moth Week celebrates the beauty, life cycles, and habitats of moths. “Moth-ers” of all ages and abilities are encouraged to learn about, observe, and document moths that we see at Airlie Gardens! Educators will help identify moths, and explore the differences between moths and their close relatives, butterflies. We will be using a light setup to attract moths so we can see them up close!

Butterfly Release to celebrate National Pollinators Week

One of our Environmental Educators will be in our native Butterfly House discussing the butterfly life cycle and the different types of butterflies in the House that week.

An educator will be in our Butterfly House discussing the life cycle of a butterfly and the different types of butterflies you can see in the house that week. Butterflies will then be released into the Butterfly House. In case of rain, we will have an educator in our classroom, and guests will still be able to observe butterflies. All ages welcome! Children under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult
