Can children receive the vaccine?

Both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have been approved by the FDA and CDC for children 6 months to 17 years. The Novavax COVID-19 vaccine has been approved by the FDA and CDC for individuals 12 years and older.  In studies, these COVID-19 vaccines reduced the rate of COVID-19 infection and provided strong protection against severe illness and hospitalization. Parents can learn more at Parental consent is required for children ages 6 months to 15 years old prior to receiving the vaccine. The following vaccines are available at New Hanover County Health and Human Services. 


6 months to 5 years: Two dose vaccine series

Ages 6 and older: One dose vaccine
