New Hanover County cannot issue permits to entities who have powers of eminent domain (the right to condemn property), or to projects that use local, state, or federal funds. These projects are permitted through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). They can be reached at 910-796-7215.
A Land Disturbance Permit is valid while the site is active or for a period of one year if no land-disturbing activity is undertaken.
A Stormwater Permit, issued by New Hanover County, does not expire.
